From a random idea to a finished character
Start with the silhouette. Fill in a rough shape in solid black and ask if you could recognize the character from the shape alone. A long scarf, big boots or a backpack bigger than the body make a silhouette memorable.
Next, think about shape language. Round shapes feel friendly and soft, squares feel strong and steady, and triangles feel sharp, quick or sneaky. A shy but brave baker might be mostly round with one bold triangle, like a pointed hat.
Choosing colors
Pick one main color, one supporting color and one small accent. Warm colors like orange and red feel energetic, while blues and greens feel calm. Use the accent on the thing that matters most, such as the quirk or the sidekick.
Show personality, not just looks
- Draw the character doing their quirk, like talking to plants.
- Make a sheet of three facial expressions: happy, worried and surprised.
- Give the outfit a story. Patches, stains and pins tell people where the character has been.
- Add the sidekick next to them to show scale and mood.
Need a setting for your character? Pair them with an idea from the fantasy drawing ideas list or a creature from the random animal generator.

Questions
What is an OC?
OC stands for original character, a character you invent yourself rather than one from an existing story. The generator gives you a starting point to make your own.
Can I use the characters for my own art or stories?
Yes. The ideas are random combinations, so anything you make from them is yours.
How do I make a character design unique?
Give them one strong visual hook, like an oversized coat or a glowing sidekick, and one personality detail that shows in their pose or face.
Are the characters kid-friendly?
Yes. Every species, job, quirk and goal is family-friendly, so the generator works well in classrooms.
